Bee’s Boutique sprang from a joy of being female, an eye for style & a love of dressing up! It began as Bee Accessorized in 2011, taking part in local events and hosting home parties, which we still do. Now, we’re happily nestled in the historic town of Coggeshall in a 17th century beamed premises.
Coggeshall is famed for its listed buildings, National Trust treasures, winery and eating places. It was also built on ‘ley lines’ which add a mysterious flavour!
As the youngest of three sisters, Bee loved dressing up – her eldest sister made her own clothes, and Bee and her middle-sister would always pinch each other’s clothes which would end up in arguments. Their mother was always super stylish – she wore immaculate clothes and everything matched perfectly, symmetries and colours.
Belinda, also known as Bee, started her career in Marks and Spencer at 16 on a Youth Training Scheme (YTS) and spent a total of 4 years learning everything about the then family-owned business.
Then, she spent a year at a Susan Rodgers boutique in Colchester before working for a golf franchise in Lakeside.
After successfully managing a team of leaders for Weight Watchers for 7 years, becoming top area service manager in the UK, an opportunity arose to start her own business.
Bee had begun to feel left out by the women’s clothing stores on the high street. She believed that women of her age, who are more self-consciousness, simply weren’t being accounted for by designers and big brands.
Therefore, she spotted a gap in the market.
The Birth of Bee’s Boutique
Bee initially started her innovative business venture in Wivenhoe by primarily selling costume jewellery, handbags and hair accessories as Bee Accessorized.
A good friend alerted Bee of a larger vacant premises in Coggeshall town, which allowed Bee to make the move into selling women’s clothing. Although this foray into fashion was always the dream for Bee, a move like this would test Bee’s confidence when it came to picking clothing lines to suit multiple demographics and individual preferences.
This was aided by the help of her colleague, now manager and BFF, Karen – who brought a flare and style all of her own, as well as a background in the service industry using her interpersonal skills.
This move turned out to be the best decision that Bee has ever made! Bee and Karen have happily served thousands of customers, and – to this day – there’s nothing better than the buzz they get from helping a lady pick an outfit that she loves, and then walking out of the shop on a high.
In-store to Online
Bee’s Boutique has a huge following locally from word-of-mouth, with new customers visiting the shop all the time to enjoy being served. Clientele frequently visit the shop and ask them for advice on the clothes that will suit them and be perfect for specific occasions.
Although a tougher environment to achieve online – due to the unavoidable lack of personal interaction – Bee wants to recreate this sentiment online as much as possible. Bee and Karen are available via phone or online for a general chat regarding clothes, sizes and availability.
Bee has always preferred an “accessorized” appearance – she loves dressing up. Her mantra is simply this: “Looking Good, Feeling Great.”
Alongside her immense passion for fashion, Bee also loves gardening, cooking and her adorable array of dogs, cats, chickens and ducks!
Bee has also always had a natural creative flair – she is part-qualified as an interior designer!
